John 2:15-17 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, ‘Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!’ 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: ‘Zeal for your house will consume me. Beloved, greetings. Now imagine entering your own fathers property and people have shamelessly changed the rules of the house and are actively disrespecting, despising, demeaning, exploiting your dad for selfish reasons, yet pretending they are there for his interests. Now being a true son or daughter of your father what will you do? I do not know what I could personally do but leaving them alone will be out of the question. Jesus made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts.. We do not know how long this tradition had been practiced at the Temple but when Jesus arrived some tables had to be overturned. Gods house is supposed to be a House of Prayer and not a market. What does Jesus think about your Church and her practices? What do you go to Church for? To meet friends, play games, buy or sell something or to worship the Living God? Now what do you do when you see wrong things going on in your Church? Grumble against the pastor and leaders? or address the situations you notice? I am certainly not advocating that you go for a whip because Jesus whip is still present today. You can pray and lovingly confront evil practices as a true child of God. You may be misunderstood by all but God will always back those whose aim is to glorify Him. Do you have any zeal for Gods Church? If you can not stand up for the right thing in the Church then our Father will hold you accountable (James 4:17). Father purify your Church and bless your children Lord. May we make your Church a house of prayer for all nations. Bro. JJ
