John 4:23-24 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” Are we true worshippers? Many people come and worship at church service as that is what they believe they are supposed to do - and it is. But our worship does not end there. Worship is a way of life. We are to worship in Spirit and in truth, How do we do that? We need to worship with a sincere mind and heart. Are we listening to the words that we are singing in worship and do we mean them? When there is a scripture reading, it is for our hearing but it is also for our doing.(James 4:17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.) Are we true to the words that we sing, that we read and that we speak that are in line with Gods will? There is a praise song that begins with the words, I love you Jesus. I love you more than anything. If we love Jesus most of all, how much time do we spend in communion with Him. Being a person who thrives much more in the morning than in the evening, waiting until the end of the day after my favorite television program or other activity ends prior to spending time with our Lord does not say that I love Him most. What that says is that I love you enough to give you my leftovers. That is not first place, Those actions, that type of worship say, Jesus, you are on my list but definitely not at the top. While most would not say those words to the Lord, our actions are yelling those words to Him. We are to worship 24 hours and 7 days of the week. Worship is a lifestyle. Does our life line up with the word of God? This is a time not to think about someone elses lifestyle, but to look at our own. There is not one person who was or is on this earth that did not need their sins covered by the blood of Jesus. Let us ask God to help us take an introspective look at our own lives and see whether or not we are true worshippers, worshipping in Spirit and in truth.
