John 7:28-30 28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, 29 but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.” 30 At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. Beloved, greetings. It was about time Jesus responded to their claims of familiarity. See v.28f: yes you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me. This is a very powerful declaration from Jesus Christ himself, destroying useless familiarity. Knowing Jesus parents, and siblings was not acceptable reason to doubt his presence and be contemptible towards his miracles. The people misunderstood the mission of the Son of the Most High God. He came to seek and to save that which was lost but familiarity was hindering the understanding of the message. When God calls a neighbor, an acquaintance, a family member to ministry, do not undermine such a one because you may be despising Gods called and anointed. Let us pause here and ask this question: How do you treat your pastor(s)? How do you treat your pastors wife or family? Have you become too familiar? Do you say I saw him or her grow up? So what? Should people not grow up again? Then why did you grow up? Even if you gave birth to them, were they not entitled to normal growth and prosperity like others? It is time to respect Gods call upon His servants. A nota bene here: If you are a child of God you are Gods servant as well, called to minister in one capacity or another which makes you more responsible towards your leaders or lead ministers. Now follow me to v.30 to see the manifestation of their jealousy: At this they tried to seize him,... carnality versus spirituality. Their flesh could not take it anymore but praise God Jesus hour had not yet come. It is interesting to know that nothing can happen to Gods faithful children until Gods hour. Beloved, let us keep the faith and labor on under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Do not be moved by those who are too familiar, keep on preaching the Word, above all keep on living the Word. Peace upon Israel, peace upon you and your family.
