John Chamberlain Penland (1848-1931) and Malinda Emiline Rogers (1848-1899). They married in 1871 in Clay County, North Carolina. She was a daughter of Archibald Rogers and Sarah Jones. He was a son of Charles Milton Penland and Louisa E. Moore. J. C. Penland and family moved to Towns County, Georgia, in the 1870s. She lost an arm and it was buried in the old Henson cemetery near Cedar Cliff. It was not moved when the lake was built.
