NELSON SAIL LOFT FOR SALE Doyle Nelson is an independently owned loft, which has been operating as a sub-loft of Doyle NZ since 1999. This arrangement ensures the supply of cuts and materials, and would be available to the right purchaser, but is between the purchaser and Doyle NZ, and is not included in the sale. Doyle Nelson currently serves the whole of the South Island of New Zealand and select classes nationwide.There is an agent network in place. Doyle Nelson produces sails from kits,membranes,proven one design patterns and floor cuts, for yachts up to 46 feet. Sail covers, dodgers, marine canvas work, sail repairs and alterations, and UV replacements make up about half of the work. The Nelson marina holds 600 boats. 40 keel boats race regularly,and there are many cruising boats,trailer yachts and centreboarders in the region. Visiting overseas cruising boats provide a seasonal boost. The loft is light and airy with excellent access and parking,10 minutes from the marina. The raised work floor is 15 x 6 m with the machines set in. There is an office/tearoom and separate toilet with a mezzanine floor above. The loft was fitted out in 2010 and features a 2010 Solent 52Xi 600 zig zag, 3 step and straight sewer with pneumatic puller and knee lift, and a 2008 Seiko SKZ 2B with pneumatic top and bottom puller,knee lift and needle cooler. It has a walking foot and does zig zag and straight stitching.Both machines have Efka motors. Other machines are a Bernina 217n with 3 step and zigzag, and a Mitsubishi LY2 3300 straight sewer with compound feed. The loft is fully equipped with straight edges,fairing battens,hydraulic press,hand tools,grommet dies etc. The lease expires at the end of July and is renewable. The loft is currently staffed by the owner with an apprentice,and would be ideal for a couple with industry skills and knowledge.The apprentice would like to stay on. The owner has reached retirement age and after 40 years sailmaking would like to move on and fit some sailing in before it is too late! The asking price of $95,000 NZD plus GST includes the current value of the plant and machinery of $35,000.Stock is available at current value less 20%.
