John Purmont of Jay sold everything he owned to the J & J Rogers Co. from Au Sable Forks. The Rogers brothers, John and James invested in the construction of their new Office and Co. Store at the foot of Mill Hill Road, near the Covered Bridge. It would have stood on the property owned by Jimmy Lincoln today. There was a 6 fire Forge across the East branch of the Au Sable River in the vicinity of the Tennis Courts ... the large boulders of the back wall used for stabilization there remain in place today. ~ Sharron Hewston, Forks Native & Historian ~ 15th March 2014
