Johns Parenting Fact of the Week: Teaching a child to use the toilet is no different than teaching a child to feed himself with a spoon, and when it is taught in that matter-of-fact manner, success will be forthcoming. The problem with toilet training these days is that mom brings no anxiety to teaching her child to eat with a spoon and a backpack full of it to teaching her child to use the potty. And so it does not go well. The point to be made here is that successful parenting is a matter of possessing the proper attitude. Without that attitude, no disciplinary method will work for long.
