Join Human Rights Campaign, Vanessa Victoria and Chelle Lhuillier with Terri Cook, co-author of Allies and Angels, on Friday, Sept. 19th, 630-830PM at 300 Central Park West in New York City. To RSVP contact, maeclips@gmail HRC, together with community partners the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, PFLAG NYC, the Empire State Pride Agenda and the Transgender Women of Color Collective, present Terri, a mother of a transgender child, who will speak about their family’s journey. With TLDEF Michael Silverman introducing, Vanessa Victoria and Chelle Lhuillier will emcee the event. As proud parents of two young men, Terri and her husband faced something that wasn’t covered in any of the parenting books they read. For fifteen years they believed they were raising a daughter. However, their precious younger child, who they now know is their son, is transgender. Terri will share her family’s journey through fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak … to understanding, acceptance, and joy. She and her husband supported their teenage son’s transition from female to male. No matter who you are or how you identify, this presentation will inspire and challenge you to see all people differently and embrace your role — in the workplace and the world — as an ally. Vanessa is an Activist, Ambassador & Executive Board member of The Transgender Women of Color Collective of Greater New York. . Vanessa currently works for The New York Citys Anti-Violence Project as a Community Based Counselor. She helps mainly victims of violence, who identify as LGBTQ & people who are HIV positive. She also works very closely with clients who are of Transgender experience. Chelle is an educator by profession. She is the current Miss LGBT Philippines -USA title holder and Miss Asia Popularity 2012. She seats as a Board of Director of Lions Club International Elmhurst Queen of Hearts Chapter and an active supporter of the Filipino-American Social and Charitable community. She heads her own foundation assisting less fortunate children in the Philippines.
