Join Me in Making a Difference in Someone’s Life Today! Dear Family and Friends, I have an incredible opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Gonaives, Haiti. A total of twelve California residents have the honor of being selected to participate on a team traveling to Haiti in June 2014. This trip is being hosted by Water & Education International, Inc. (WEI), it is a 501-c3 nonprofit organization, based in Vallejo, Ca. You can go to the website haitiprojects.org to learn more. Listed are a few of the completed and ongoing projects: *WEI has been serving in various communities in Haiti since 2007 by providing rice and beans to families *WEI consistently sponsors education to over 300 elementary and high school students each year, and over ninety percent of those students pass the state exams and have graduated *WEI has provided critical emergency response teams and sent aid for the 2008 flood victims, the 2010 earthquake, and recent Cholera outbreak. *WEI has drilled and installed so far, over twenty clean water wells to combat disease and infections as well as providing annual free medical clinics *WEI recently built new classrooms for a school in Cherette, Haiti that was destroyed by the earthquake in 2013. The rebuilding project was completed in partnership with local community colleges in Northern California. Each year, WEI sponsors a Summer Camp. The children look forward to it every year. The camps include arts and crafts, basketball and volleyball clinics. The cost of the trip is $1500.00 and includes airfare and lodging. Each team member is responsible for their own expenses.
