Join me tonight and protect Bentley!! Caring Humans present: PROTECTING BENTLEY FOREVER - benefit Featuring Toni Childs (in a world premiere) Kerrianne Cox & Laura Targett Thursday 29th May, Star Court Theatre, Lismore The recent victory in temporarily suspending Metagasco’s license to explore for gas in Bentley, NSW has inspired further support for the ultimate goal of creating a gasfield free zone forever. Some of the region’s top musicians are donating their time and talents for this mega benefit, with all funds raised going to the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO). Established in 1996, the EDO (edo.org.au) consists of eight independently managed community environmental legal centres around Australia, dedicated to protecting the environment in the public interest. The EDO has played a key although largely behind-the-scenes role in the gasfield-free Bentley community action, working with Lock The Gate on critical legal aspects of the campaign. The Federal government announced it would no longer fund EDOs the week before Christmas, two months after the NSW Minerals Council made public statements calling for an end to funding of EDOs. theaustralian.au/business/legal-affairs/miners-press-brandis-to-stop-funds-for-environmental-defender/story-e6frg97x-1226737031498 “The end of Federal funding for EDO’s comes as Australia’s faces an unprecedented wind back of legal protection for the environment,” said EDO Executive Director Jeff Smith. “Your support for the EDO will be vital to ensuring that people can afford to protect their local communities from mining and coal seam gas developments which threaten the environment, clean air and water.” Legendary singer/songwriter Toni Childs, a lifelong clean earth advocate, will premier her newest work, due out in September, entitled It’s All A Beautiful Noise, with her full band. ((allabeautifulnoise) Toni’s newest creative adventure mines the notion that we are all pollinators. “We’re looking to celebrate the littlest angels that keep our planet happy and healthy – namely the bees, butterflies, frogs, ladybugs, dragonflies and birds”, Toni explains. Toni Childs will be supported by award-winning Original singer/songwriter/storyteller Kerrianne Cox, plus locally acclaimed musician Laura Targett and her band. Plus, some local and national clean earth advocates will also speak briefly to the cause! Date/Time: Thursday 29th May, 7pm. Venue: Star Court Theatre, 126 Molesworth St, Lismore. 66225005 Tickets: $40/$30 con. starcourttheatre.au or Box Office during business hours.
