Join us for our annual Lunch on the Lawn event, a series of FREE, informal ensemble concerts located on the front lawn of the Springfield Museum of Art from 11:30am to 1pm on four consecutive Fridays – July 25 to August 15, 2014. Special sack lunches are available for $6 (with beverage), while they last. Bring your own lawn chair or put down a blanket under a tree! Seating is also provided under an outdoor tent. In case of rain the performances will move inside the Museum. Music for Lunch on the Lawn includes a mixture of classical and popular music by quality, diverse performing groups and artists. For our series opener we’re excited to welcome for the first time one of the area’s premier guitarists and entertainers, Jim McCutcheon. Jim’s eclectic blend of classical, folk, and jazz has been pleasing audiences in the Miami Valley for many years! Also new to the series this year is Rich Carey’s band Mulligan Stew, with Springfield Youth Symphony alumnus Tyler Deitrick on violin. Mulligan Stew’s wonderful mix of hilarity and Irish/Celtic music is a hometown special not to be missed! SSO trumpets Dave Zeng and Stephen Campbell head up the Cincinnati Brass, a stellar ensemble of classical musicians who play a wide variety of enjoyable styles. Closing out the series, we’re pleased to welcome back GoodVibes, who have added a dozen new songs to their repertoire of smooth jazz and standard favorites. Come early on August 1st and 8th and enjoy the music of Springfield Youth Orchestra musicians. Bring the whole family, or stop in during your workday – Lunch on the Lawn is a great way to spend your summer lunch hour. Admission to Museum exhibits is free to event patrons after the concert!
