Join us later today for the launch of Forging a pathway for peace in the midst of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict by authors Salim J. Munayer and Lisa Loden At 11 am, the Community of the Cross of Nails will host the launch of this book that brings the subject of reconciliation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict sharply into focus. Authors Dr Salim J. Munayer and Lisa Loden will share their experiences as a Palestinian Christian and an Israeli Messianic Jew, seeking to trade hostility for forgiveness and to create a practical theology of reconciliation. This free event, open to members of the public, will start at 11am in the Nave of Coventry Cathedral. It will be conclude with the Litany of Reconciliation held in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral finishing at 12.10pm. Speakers at the event will also include Canon David W. Porter, the Archbishop of Canterburys Director for Reconciliation at Lambeth Palace and Richard Harvey, Associate Lecturer at All Nations College. Support for the book has come from both sides of the Atlantic. ‘In a world that sees only one side of every conflict (and this one especially), where people believe only their own propaganda, and where many Christians inhabit hard shells of theological, political and apocalyptic certainties, this book is a bravely different voice. Rather, it is two voices talking carefully, honestly graciously, respectfully and truthfully to each other – as sisters and brothers in the Messiah should. This is a unique conversation in which each partner, Messianic Jewish Israeli and Palestinian Christian, gives full expression to all that they are and think and feel about themselves and the conflict in their land. We are treated to some stretching theological debate and some honest self-criticism. But above all we come to share the hope and courage that shines through the pain and struggle.’ Christopher J. H. Wright, International Ministries Director, Langham Partnership UK ‘The Palestinian-Israeli divide may be the most intractable conflict of our time. With great courage, honestly facing the turbulent political, historical, and theological landscape which authentic reconciliation must engage, Munayer and Loden open up fresh space. Given the divides between their communities, this book is a remarkable achievement, a cry of hope from the land where Jesus walked.’ Chris Rice, Director of the Center for reconciliation, Duke Divinity School, USA. The event is supported by the Community of the Cross of Nails, Embrace, Musalaha and Paternoster. Ends Notes
