Joined two groups that have connections with Karelia, the eastern part of Finland where my father came from. Most of that area is now under Russia. They took it the first time in 1939 in the so-called Winter War. Then the Finns, enstrenghtened with the German army, took it back in 1941 and the Russians came once again and took the area in 1944. Or so they claimed... In reality the Finnish soldiers had the area under control but the General Marshal Mannerheim gave the area away when negotiating with the Russians, in order to finally see the war end for Finland´s part!! My father never got over losing their home...
