Jonathan Hosts Falcons Wednesday -As Oshoala Receives Arsenal Offer New African Womens Championship (AWC), Nigerias Super Falcons are billed to receive an instant reward for their seventh conquest of the competition, as President Goodluck Jonathan is billed to host the squad this Wednesday in Abuja, just as the sides second top scorer, Asisat Oshoala has gained a transfer offer from the ladies sections of Arsenal and Fulham of England. Sports minister, Dr Tammy Danagogo announced President Jonathan’s impending reception for the Falcons when he addressed the players before they beat Cameroon 2-0 in the 2014 AWC final in Windhoek, Namibia on Saturday. Danagogo further disclosed that a proposal has been sent to Jonathan to receive the team during the federal executive council meeting on Wednesday and enthused that the president will be looking forward to meeting the Falcons on their return, as the players deserve more praise for doing Nigeria proud in Namibia. The minister also divulged during the victory dinner at the Nigerian House Windhoek that the team will be hosted by the National Sports Commission (NSC) before the Presidential reception. I know it is not just going to be a presidential hand shake alone because he likes to appreciate those who do the country proud in any sector of national endeavour. Just get the job done and leave the rest, Danagogo stated. The impending reception by President Jonathan comes hot on the heel of reports that Falcons star, Oshoala, who was also voted most valuable player and top scorer at the recent FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup in Canada, has drawn interest from Arsenal and Fulham of England. Aside the possibility of moving to England for the start of a professional career, Oshoala has laso been tipped to emerge African Female Footballer of the Year 2014, Oshoala not to be named the best African female player of 2014 in January on the back of her recent exploits. The 21-year-old Oshoala, fondly called Superzee, has played a big role in the emergence of her local club, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt as the new force on the local scene. Her gamble to drop out of school for football has been richly rewarded and this elegant Ikorodu-born forward is well and truly on track to becoming the greatest ever female star to come out of Nigeria even if she would be the first to insist she has only just got started. Should a proposed move to either Arsenal or Fulham in England go through, Oshoala will be the next real deal in the world game, which former Falcons coach, Ismaila Mabo told AfricanFootball already makes her Nigeria’s leader of the new generation. She is doing well and I am happy for her and for the country to be blessed with such quality. I hope she will be able to join a team abroad where he will blossom quicker, Mabo remarked.
