Jonathan Parleys 4 Splinter PDP Governors, 12 Others, VP, NSA President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Sunday night met with four Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who alongside three other Governors of the party and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar announced the formation of a factional “New PDP”. Also at the meeting with the President, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, and NSA Sambo Dasuki, were twelve (12) other governors of the PDP believed to be loyal to the faction of the party chaired by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. The meeting came a few hours after the President held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who has been trying to quell the crisis in the party. Though details of the meeting which started at about 9.15pm were not disclosed to the media, THEWILL gathered that the crisis in the party which led to Saturday’s fractionalization was top on the deliberations. Also on the agenda was the security implication of the crisis. The governors of the splinter PDP at the meeting include Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), and M’uazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger). The other attendees include Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Idris Wada (Kogi), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Mukhtar Ramallan Yero (Kaduna), Acting Governor Garba Umar (Taraba), Saiidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Theodore Orji (Abia), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and factional chairman of the PDP governors forum, Mr. Jonah David Jang (Plateau). Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), who are the three other governors in the “New PDP” chaired by Abubakar Baraje, did not attend the meeting.
