Joni Ernst response left a lot to be desired. First, how is it a response if its written before the State of Union is given. Second, her only specifics given was to approve Keystone Pipeline. Lets think for a second, oil is a huge part of our recovery and we are currently extracting more from the ground then we ever have before ( thus low gas prices). It has made a lot of jobs for middle America, and we turn around and allow Canada to run a pipeline to the gulf to further saturate the market with crude oil. While I would love to see gas prices continue to drop, at this juncture it would cause the drilling industries to almost completely evaporate. Why is this issue one of the biggest focuses of the republicans? I struggle to understand how losing oil drilling jobs and assisting Canadian oil market is the most pressing concern for our recovery. And the pandering was so blatant, bad speech! Not to say Obama didnt pander (ie free junior college, bad idea). But at least Obama had more specificity then republican response.
