Joni Mitchell is one of the few souls I am aware of who seems to embody the qualities of the Fully-Developed Artist: is there a moment in the day where she might be anything other than utterly herself? I doubt it. I marvel at the womans tenacity and persistence, overcoming so many odds along the way, and remaining true to her unique Vision and witness to her world. In these days dying days of the Great Ones, the ones who must follow are invariably shadows. Here is Joni when her voice was still strong and able to hit the high notes. The chord changes, the colour of the music, and the spot-on poetry; the world-wise, cut-through-the-shite slicing up of the dominant ideologies of our times still resonate in the Here and Now almost thirty years (!) after the song was recorded.
