Joseph Yeo admits Ginebra trying to be more like Purefoods: ‘Sila yung perfect example ng team’ Barangay Ginebra San Miguel may have been the better team on Sunday night, but Joseph Yeo, the top scorer of the latest ‘Manila Clasico’ clash, says that Grand Slam champions Purefoods is still the team that others should hope to emulate. “Sila yung perfect example of a team. Sila yung gusto naming gayahin. Maganda na yung itinatakbo nila. Four straight times na silang champion,” said the Barangay Ginebra guard after his team’s 89-66 win. Purefoods has won four consecutive titles dating back to the Governors’ Cup of the 2012-2013 season. They’ve enjoyed plenty of success using the fabled triangle offense under coach Tim Cone. That same philosophy is now being embraced by the Kings under Jeff Cariaso, who was an assistant to Cone at Purefoods before moving to Ginebra last season. Yeo hopes that the team, given the necessary time to learn the offense and play with each other, will begin to exhibit the qualities that Purefoods has been displaying the past few conferences. “Kung ano yung nangyayaring chemistry sa Purefoods, yun ang gusto naming mangyari,” he said. According to Yeo, he is even trying to study the games of Purefoods star scorers James Yap and Peter June Simon, in an effort to improve his own game. “Ako nga personally tinitingnan ko sina James, sina PJ kung paano sila kumukuha ng puntos,” he added. Yeo got the better of both players on this particular night, though, knocking down five three-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points in the contest. He also had five assists in the win. interaksyon/interaktv/joseph-yeo-admits-ginebra-trying-to-be-more-like-purefoods-sila-yung-perfect-example-ng-team
