Josh E T Watson has a new label Virtual Cool which has two great releases....the band i play bass in Scrabbled Brisbane Welcome To Pig City and a Sewers/ RAT KING split ...good start.....this is fresh from MESS+NOISE Josh Watson, who’s made videos for the likes of Blank Realm, Per Purpose and Kitchen’s Floor, has started the label Virtual Cool. The debut releases are a split tape between Sewers and Rat King and the debut album of Clag spinoff Scrabbled. The split reportedly comes in a handmade kangaroo-leather case (it’s called Leather too) and pairs two songs by each band, including Sewers’ cover of the demo ‘Japanese Train Diver’ by Adelaide cult outfit Grong Grong. Not to be confused with the New York rap collective, Rat King are a noisy Newcastle concern, while Sewers remain “dark, dirty and not nice at all”. As for Scrabbled, Welcome to Pig City nods to Andrew Stafford and places Clag’s Bek Moore squarely in the company of members of Extrafoxx, Dag, Primitive Motion, Per Purpose, Gravel Samwidge and many other Brisbane underdogs. The first song’s even called ‘Brisbane Town’ and continues a certain conflicted relationship with the place. For fans of Clag, it’s very much a logical progression from that band. virtualcool.bandcamp/album/scrabbled-welcome-to-pig-city
