Journalist Umar Cheema, recipient of our 2008 Daniel Pearl Journalism Fellowship award, continues his success and promotion of Daniel’s ideals through his work with the Pakistani newspaper The News. Umar is a perfect example of the success that the Daniel Pearl Journalism Fellows program has had in promoting responsible and balanced investigative journalism. He was selected by the Global Investigative Journalism Network as one of the most impactful stories in recent decades.
