Joy emailed--I am trying out a new socket and c-leg that is still in the fitting process. I am an AK (about 6 inches left). I am trying to walk without a cane after 28 years of using a cane with a hydraulic knee. I am walking pretty good around the house and short walks, but when I go around the neighborhood for a longer walk I start having pain from the end of the bone drifting over to the outer wall of the socket. It gets to the point where I have to use my cane to help stop the bone drift. Has anyone had this problem and been able to resolve it? Another AK amputee told me that he had a section of the outer hard socket cut out so that the inner flexible socket could give a little for the bone drift. Has anyone else done this? I have never had a socket with out sections. Does that help?
