Joyce Taylor anchors the Northwests number one morning show, KING-5 Morning News and KING-5 News on KONG weekday mornings from 5am to 9am. For more than 20 years she has reported on the events that have shaped this region, interviewing U.S. presidents, policy makers, entertainers, sports stars and hundreds of ordinary people who have found themselves in extraordinary circumstances. In 1997 she was awarded a Best News Anchor Regional Emmy for live reporting from London, England on the death of Princess Diana. Joyce is passionate about children’s education. She serves on the board of Seattles Rainier Scholars – a rigorous 11-year academic program for talented students of color. She is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Talaris Research Institute, the Seattle Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. Joyce was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. She has a twin sister and is one of five children. Her alma-mater, Western Washington University, has recognized her as one of Western’s “100 Outstanding Alumni of the Century.” She currently serves on Westerns Foundation Board. Joyce is an avid runner. She completed her first marathon in Portland, Oregon in 2006 and has hit the pavement for the Seattle Half-Marathon 5 times! Her newest passion is Lindy Hop Swing Dancing! Crank up some Count Basie or Duke Ellington and watch out! Joyce and her husband of 18 years have a son and daughter and live in Bellevue.
