Juan Garcia arrived at the clinic on the last day of Dr. Reeder’s visit, traveling by bus and walking to get there. The schedule was full for the day, but the staff all agreed that Juan needed to be seen. Juan’s wife died 9 years ago, leaving him with a 5 day old baby boy and a 5 year old girl. His family offered to take care of the children, so he could move on, but he decided to raise them on his own. His daughter is now happily married and his 16 year old son takes care of him. Juan came to the clinic with large varicose veins and part of the skin on his leg was about to open. His left eye is completely covered with cataracts and you can see the struggles he has endured on his face. Juan was treated with laser and foam and after compression therapy, he was given support stockings to wear until complete healing. As Juan left the clinic, he didn’t have enough words to express his gratitude and as a staff, we were so blessed to be able to help him.
