Judges in the Court of Appeal have thrown out an appeal by Tower Hamlets Council in England where kinship carers were paid less than foster carers for the children they care for. The case concerned a kinship carer who gave up her job to care for her brothers 3 children, all of which have learning difficulties. The Judge referred to the kinship carer as “one of the unsung heroines of our society" and ruled she should be paid the same as an unrelated foster parent.
