July 4, 1776 – The Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. That among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. Thomas Jefferson How dismayed they would be today? And, so should we that we are now governed by corporate interests, and corporations that whittle away at our freedoms and civil liberties, claiming personhood and religious freedom. After all these many years, and generations; after all the struggles and lives lost...that we find ourselves today celebrating, because we have a chance to have a day off with our families and our friends speaks volumes, while becoming ever more alienated from the promise of what we could have been. If you love this country, now is the time to double down and take it back from the extremists and corporate monied interests that have been trying to wrest it from us!
