July is here and it must be summertime in Jersey.Always memories in July some good,some not so good.Every year I tell the Birdlegs Martin Story but Im going to start this time with the Jim Ray Hart story.1964 San Francisco Giants,my favorite player.Him and Richie Allen of the Phils were battling for rookie of the yr.Was asked if I wanted to go July 29th Wed. 1964 to Connie Mack Stadium to see the Giants play the Phillies by David Serlenga.Mays,McCovey,Hart,Juan Marichal,my dream come true.BUT the 4th of July weekend I went to Serlengas for cookout.I was just being me when David called me aside and said Frank your getting on my dads nerves.Basically I was down to 1 more screw-up.Well if any of you knew Mr.Serlenga he loved his power tools.Well my big feet got in the way and I tripped over the power cord setting off a chain reaction that wasnt good.Needless to say when July 29th came around I was listening to the game on the radio,never forgot that.The game itself was an extra-inning 6-3 win by the Giants in which J.R.Hart hit 2 HRS,McCovey drove in 3 in the 10th and Juan Marichal got the win.Still remember it like it was yesterday,also the Serlengas are good people,it was just one of those things.Next The Birdlegs Martin Story.
