July is the month we celebrate our nations birth. I decided to post a historical fact or quote each day. I wanted to do that because I have become disturbed at the notion that our founding fathers were not Christians & the acceptance of many that Christians have no place in political debate. Just today I read this statement from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, "The United States is governed under a secular & godless constitution, and our passports should be secular too." Does this strike a nerve with anyone? Would George Washington & Eisenhower be reprimanded these days? Would the pastor/ Major-General Muhlenberg be allowed to inspire his troops with the true gospels? Would G.W.Carver be able to speak freely to his students? I have loved reading your insights & I hope you have gained a stronger respect for these people who stood on their faith that God would lead them. I, for one, am grateful that there were men & women who read the scriptures & believed freedom was a God given right. Most of the quotes & stories came from the book Under God by Toby Mac & Michael Tait. I highly recommend it. There are so many more inspiring stories.
