“Juma-tul-Wida” And “Youm-ul-Quds” Observed In Kashmir The last Friday of the month of Ramazan (Juma-tul-Wida,) was today observed as the “Youm-ul-Quds and Kashmir” to impress upon the international community to come forward in a big way to help the people of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir secure their “inalienable” right to self-determination. Call for the observance of the Day was given by Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, heads of their factions of Hurriyat Conferences. Mirwaiz led a mammoth demonstration in Srinagar but Geelani was not allowed to move out of his house. He is under house arrest since he returned from New Delhi, in the month of March this year. Resolutions supporting the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir and Palestine were passed in many mosques. The resolutions urged the international community to address the issue in the interest of peace in the world. The protesters at Nowhatta, Rajouri Kadal and Alamgari Bazar set on fire the Israeli flag. The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, addressed a huge gathering in Charar-e-Sharief and called upon the world community “to break its silence over lingering Kashmir dispute and come forth for its settlement.” Senior separatist leader, Shabir Ahmad Shah, was out under house arrest and was not allowed to offer Friday prayers.
