June 2014: Venice becomes the world capital of architecture and design thanks to the 14th International Architecture Exhibition. Six months of events (until November 23rd) will animate the Giardini di Castello, the Arsenale, and other expositive venues spread all over town. To many - critics, press, pundits - it will be a remarkable edition. Its curator, Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, Pritzker Prize recipient in 2000 and winner of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, might be the reason. His is an ambitious project that goes beyond the mere exhibition of buildings and planning. Through in-depth research, the archi-star has redesigned the meaning of the role hes been given by expanding his influence over the National Pavilions and by involving new fields such as Art, Cinema, Theater, and Dance.
