June 27, 2013 Congress has one shot to address our immigration - TopicsExpress

June 27, 2013 Congress has one shot to address our immigration problem the right way today, and we had better get it right. Any bill that reaches the president’s desk must address border security first and foremost. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the underlying bill that the Senate will vote on this week would only cut illegal immigration by 25 percent. That’s just not good enough. Unfortunately, I can’t vote for this bill because it fails to prioritize border security first. During this debate, I co-sponsored several important border security amendments that were ultimately defeated. Click here and here for more information. I hope that the Senate will now work with the House to find a better solution on long-term immigration reform.
