June 2nd Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world” (John 16:33). In this Last Supper Discourse Jesus promises us that God is with us always. He will not leave us orphans but the Holy Spirit will be with us day in and day out. As we hear in todays Gospel Jesus doesnt promise us a rose garden. All of us have had to bear burdens, sometimes very heavy burdens but Jesus offers us peace even in the midst of all this turmoil. My experience has been that sometimes as I go through turmoil I can sense Gods presence but sometimes it is only after I have gone through it that I realize that God was always with me. -Jim Scullion, ofm ([email protected])
