June 30th of this year marked for me 28 years of working in the Turner County School System. I began my career in 1986, as the part-time hospital/homebound teacher. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles with the schools. In 2005, I was hired as the Executive Director of Turner County Connection. Being the Executive Director for this incredible organization has been very rewarding. I have grown professionally and personally, experienced things and had opportunities that I would never have had in any other position. I have been blessed to have worked with some incredibly awesome people. I have had the best coworkers, supervisors and mentors and I have had the opportunity to meet and work with people from across the state and nation. However, God has opened doors for me to head in a different direction. Therefore, as of August 31st I will be retiring from the Turner County School System and resigning as Executive Director of Turner County Connection-Communities In Schools of Turner County. Even though sharing this is difficult, the decision was not difficult. In fact, my prayer was that I would not have to make the decision. I turned this decision completely over to God. He made the decision for me. I have just walked through the doors as He opened them. I am very excited about this new path God is leading me down. Turner County Connection-Communities In Schools of Turner County has a great future. The organization is strong with a strong board of directors to lead. TCC-CIS of TC will continue to impact our community in positive ways and will continue to empower children and families to become strong and stable. Lisa
