June 6: 1945†Ini Kopuria, Solomon Islander, Anglican, Founder of the Melanesian Brotherhood. Born on the island of Guadalcanal, circa 1900 (?), Kopuria was a policeman who founded the Brotherhood in 1925, with its own Rule, an indigenous evangelistic Order. Kopuria became the leader. With the Japanese invasion in 1942, be broke his vows and joined the American Labour Corps and then married. (From the SPCK pocket diary).
