Junior Farm Manager Kaalrug Closing Date: 23 January 2015 Vacancy objective: The primary objective of this position is the day to day cane production of the area of responsibility with the focus on ensuring good quality cane in terms of tons per ha as well as RV and Quality. Reporting structure: Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities: Responsibilities: • Management of subordinates – effective organizational structure and transformational leadership. Management of production resources which includes amongst others, water, energy, nutrition, machinery as well as field data. Management of all contractors including harvest, weed control, mechanical and transport (ensuring high quality standards and compliance in area of responsibility). Implementation of both Fertilizer and Variety Strategy as defined by Management. Project management of irrigation systems replacement and maintenance. Management of P&D in area of responsibility. Management of irrigation scheduling, dry off and all quality enhancement parameters. Financial management including budgets, capital, procurement, assets and costs. Compliance surety on SHEQ standards & Service, in line with the Company policy. Re-development of non-productive land and infrastructure, and ownership of all farming infrastructure and systems. Requirements: • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture (Plant Production). Minimum 5 years’ experience in irrigated cane production. Managerial experience will be added advantage.
