Juror Expected to Pled Guilty to Criminal Contempt The Pacific Daily News reported on November 4, 2014 that juror Robert Cook is expected to plead guilty to a criminal contempt charge before U.S. District Court of Guam Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood. Mr. Cook was a juror that heard a federal drug trial in 2013. While the case was ongoing, he discussed the case with an inmate in a Guam prison. The inmate was being held in the same facility as one of the co-defendants. The trial judge had repeatedly instructed the jury to refrain from this conduct. Based at least in part on Mr. Cook’s conduct, the defendant’s in the original trial were offered very favorable plea deals which they accepted. The pleas avoid the need for a costly retrial. Mr. Cook is facing up to 6 months in jail upon acceptance by the court of his plea.
