Jury Duty - How many of my FB peers have served and what was your age(s) when you did it? A Judge who is an alumni of David Clarke School of Law recently published a book that is being marketed as a must read by every citizen entitled to vote by age 18 about the jury duty. What it means, et cetera, etc. Ive served twice: 1st time age 22 and most recently at 53. Both times in Worcester Div. Superior Court. The first case was a real case, the 2nd was a waste of court resources and should never have been accepted to file. When I think about the claim that the Trial Courts dockets are backlogged and there arent enough resources - financial and human - to process the caseload I have to wonder if all these backlogged cases have legal merit to begin with. I wrote a letter to the presiding judge on this second case because I was outraged that citizens are required/mandated to serve if employed or not. One jurist had to walk (this was winter) two miles to get to the WRTA bus (and borrow $ for fare) every day or face being ostracized by his peers if he didnt show up. It took 3 days to hear and less than fifteen minutes to deliberate. WASTE Not, WANT not!
