Just FYI to those donating to ALS related charities - its great when a non-profit organization experiences a fund-raising boom through a successful campaign. These organizations have a fiscal responsibility to use that money towards the services they offer, and they have a budget, a goal, and a board of directors which vote on and approve all these numbers. When something like the ice bucket challenge wildly over-succeeds, the majority of that money is non-sustainable to the organization, meaning that they cant strategically use it for long-term initiatives or to structure any budgeted program, because no one is going to be pouring frigid water on themselves a year from now. Just pointing that out, because every good non-profit relies upon annual givers. I couldnt raise over 10,000 for AIDS/LifeCycle if I didnt go back to the generosity of my donors each year and count of them to share my passion in the cause. So, while youre feeling philanthropic / wet and freezing, why not become an annual donor to a cause I know youre passionate about - the LGBT community!
