Just Randomness: I can remember taking a class in high school called Consumers Ed. I thought that was one of my most boring classes because I thought Im still a kid, I dont buy much...only random teenage garbage. Little did I know how important being a consumer was. Have you ever went into a restaurant...any restaurant and heard some say This doesnt look like the one on the menu. Heres why ( I did pay some attention in class). Food items are what todays generation calls photo shopped. It is made up to look appealing. Ever wonder why the butterball turkeys on t.v. commercials look so tender, juicy, and have that perfect golden brown? Or why McDonalds burgers look so hefty and delicious and the fries sit in the container all perfect and neatly lined up? Turpentine, gloss ( the kind you can buy at any hardware store) and glue. Turpentine to give the nice golden brown color, and gloss to make it look perfect and stand out to the naked eye, glue to make it stay in place and look....well, perfect. Its called consumer entrapment. Now a days, with the use of digital everything, photos can be manipulated to add or take away coloring, add or take away weight, add brightness or contrast that is appealing to the human senses.....just like models you see in the magazine. So the next time you go into a food establishment and your food does not look like the one the menu or your Thanksgiving turkey doesnt come out looking like the one on t.v......now you know! #foodforthought.
