Just a Thought is from yesterday’s Bible readings in Num. - TopicsExpress

Just a Thought is from yesterday’s Bible readings in Num. 10:1-11:23, Mark 14:1-21, Ps. 51:1-19, & Pr. 10:31 & 32. Please forgive me for getting the readings and devotion mixed up. In Ps. 51, David was asking for God to create with in him a renewed, restored, and transformed heart. This is something that only God can do. In order for this transformation to take place, our hearts must be like that of a child. In their wide-eyed curiosity, innocent trust, and unpolished honesty, we are given a picture of what God hopes you and I will be lie when we grow up. Jesus made reference to this when He wanted the children to come to Him. Children also mirror the tenderness of heart that Our Heavenly Father desires to see in us when we have been justly disciplined. The evidence of the broken and repentant heart that beats with-in the breast of pint sized humans, can readily seen when a child is caught in the act of disobedience. The sounds of uncontrollable sobbing, (interrupted only by the whispers of admission of guilt) and tears rolling down a face displays their heart felt feelings. They seek the parent’s forgiveness with their arms extended upward. It is easy to tell that they are truly sorry for their actions. No reasonable parent, nor Our God in Heaven, would withhold love, acceptance, and forgiveness from one so broken. This is how God desires you and I to come before Him as we seek His forgiveness. It is the sincere, broken hearted honesty and humility of a child that God desires to see in us, as we approach Him. As we mature as Christians, we must strive to never outgrow the broken heartedness of a child with a tender heart. May God’s grace and mercy be with you today.
