Just a couple of different properties today but seven cards of those properties. The Ivy Motel was built in the 1950s and was on the Bypass 66 route around the St. Louis area. They advertised Hospitality - Comfort - Economy. It actually faced Old Olive Street Road but it was at the intersection with Lindbergh Boulevard. Its still in business today but its on-line ratings arent what you would call top-rated - https://goo.gl/maps/bkcYf. The Park Plaza Court, or Courts, or Motel, depending on what signage you looked at was part of a small chain of seven motels, some of which were on Route 66 in Tulsa, Amarillo and Flagstaff. It was on the northwest corner of two alignments of Route 66 through the St. Louis area, Watson Road and Lindbergh Boulevard. At one time it had 135 rooms. One card also shows Nelsons Cafe which was part of the Park Plaza operation. It later became the Flame Restaurant. Today the Holiday Inn Southwest-Viking Conference Center sits in its place - https://goo.gl/maps/ukFL9. The last card comes from the Ozark Plaza Motel, a name change from the Park Plaza Motel. They apparently downsized a little from 135 rooms to 121 rooms when the name was changed. It still offered color TV, air conditioning, a game room, swimming pool, restaurant and cocktail lounge. Well take a look at some older motels tomorrow as we continue through the St. Louis area on Route 66.
