Just a few pics of some of the patients I got to take care of on Monday. This is the day we decided as a team to slow down and try and protect those key medical personnel on our team who are at risk of burnout due to our shortage of caregivers at this time. And this is the day we received many urgent cases all at once with many surgeries to do and medical patients to see! How can we turn them away? Please pray for us as we all struggle with this and it will be a very tough month and that God will give wisdom, balance and grace. We are grateful for the arrival of a specialist and a generalist who will be able to lighten the load a bit! I am grateful for my patients with whom I have developed this caring developing relationship and shared Christs love and compassion with them. Some examples this week: A well baby exam, a young girl with an infection and HIV, a sweet Fulani family whose child had malaria and anemia, two patients with severe head trauma due to moto accidents, a teenager with a typhoid perforation, a man with leukemia and a 35 week old premature infant born 4 hours earlier. And heres a pic of three of our new nurses who just graduated in May with whom it is a privilege now to work together as colleagues, not student and teacher.
