Just a passing thought... While I have been away in Culver and while working on the land at Rainbow Prairie, I received a phone call from a parent of a former soccer student of mine. This parent was absent when I needed him / his daughter to make a FC Mystique girls U10 soccer team Spring 2012. I called, left messages, no response! This parent called to ask me if I would work one on one with his daughter again... He sang my praises up and down telling me that: "No one knows how to coach and train players better than you, Ron"! "My daughter has learned so much and is doing awesome but needs a kick in the ass to get her to the next level"! He went on for a good 5 minutes. I was silent. When I finally did get a moment to speak, this is what I said... "I offer my congratulations to your daughter. She worked hard for me and learned much and I hope she carries that with her wherever she goes. However, I will be unable to train your daughter as I have retired from soccer coaching / training". There was silence on the other end of the phone. I continued, "I hate to cut this short but I am right in the middle of pruning a Butterfly Bush"... I heard an awkward "okay" and then we hung up... Karma does exist!
