Just a quick report. Picard has now gained 17 lbs up to 127. His trache was downsized, a step closer to removal. Theyre using a wound vac on his bedsores which is providing relief while healing them quicker. Hes been driving his motorized wheelchair around the unit the last few days. The big news is that today they let him drive himself with his mother and I throughout the hospital wherever he wanted to go. We went off the floor and down to the lobby where he saw the dozens of Christmas trees and decorations as well as the gardens and a whole lot more. We cruised around until we had used an entire tank of oxygen when we got back. Most importantly, hes beginning to really interact with everyone, cutting up and visiting with them as we see his smile, laughter and sense of humor begin to return. He said the only thing that would have made the day better would be a jelly filled doughnut.
