Just a quick update. I have completed one of the forms of chemo and have been started on the 2nd form. I believe there are 4 types in all I will be receiving all together, in addition to a special kind that has to be administered directly into my spine twice a week (I think) to help prevent the cancer cells from invading my brain. I had the first one of those treatments yesterday at the time of the spinal tap. (I am dreading the thought of having to undergo that procedure over and over again!) My doctor came in and spoke to me a bit this morning about the fact that a bone marrow transplant in something we will eventually be looking at in order to try to achieve a complete cure. My biggest concern now is the fact that I cannot work at the moment, and my health insurance is a group plan with my employer, so I am looking at losing my health insurance very soon. I just did not plan to have a total loss of my income and health insurance ever happen to me, so that has thrown me for a bit of a loop. My other concern, which has been interesting to learn about actually, is that the ideal bone marrow donor is a FULL sibling, of which I have none. I was not aware that it is important in order to obtain important genetic information that was contributed by both parents. I am looking at a very long and difficult road ahead and continue to request all the prayers I can get for my family and myself. I am ready to be back up and running. Vacation over!!!
