Just a quick update on Jessica, They removed Jessica from the ventilator on Monday! They are looking at the lab results each day thinking they may not have to do dialysis anymore because her kidneys are doing the job. Now that she is off of the vent, they tried a swallow test yesterday and Jessica passed, and she is now eating semi-solid food for the first time in almost 5 weeks! This also meant taking out the feeding line from her nose:) They are now getting her up out of bed everyday and have her moving quite a bit; this does not make her feel real good, though. She still has the trach in and they have her trying to talk to get her vocal cords working again - we cannot tell you how nice it is to hear her talk! We are meeting with her team of Doctors this morning to find out where we go with her rehabilitation. I also want to take a moment to thank Scott & Gregg Carleton, for sitting with Jessica on several occasions so Michelle and I could have a break. Thank you Mom & Bob for spending Monday and Tuesday of last week in San Antonio with Jessica so Michelle and I could be at home. A big thank you to all of you for your continued prayers for Jessica as she has gone through this battle for her life. Please keep her in your prayers as now the real physical work starts for Jess, as she has to push herself through all of this physical therapy. Gods blessings to all of you. Brett Carleton
