Just a sincere word of thanks to the many who took a Saturday from their busy schedules to join us at the Milwaukee Area Technical College in Oak Creek for our 2014 Severe Weather Symposium. First of all a big thank you to the president of MASA Skip Voros for not giving up on my efforts. We thank Russell Spahn, former Fire Chief of Greenfield and now Dean of Protective Services at MATC for arranging the facility. Russ has been a long time supporter of MASA. A special thanks to our Technical engineers and volunteer staff for keeping the event running no matter what the challenge. Our behind the scenes crew including Gregg Schulz (Video, Computers, Software, Power Point), Matthew Middlebrooke, (Audio /Visual, Computers), Greg Zimdahl (back up IT support) and Justin Swierczynskiwho helped at home with technical and computer advice (I guess a behind the behind the scenes). Heather Schulz, greeter, raffle prizes and so much more, Steven McCarthy the money man, and photographers Steve Paluch, TJ and Missy Kwiatkowski. And how could we forget our presenters, Rusty Kapela, retired WCM from Sullivan WSFO dragged out of retirement as lead instructor for the event, our favorite emcee Mark Baden and Chris Gloninger the WISN Dynamic duel, our expert Storm Chaser Scott Weberpal telling it like it is, Eagle Fire Chief Justin Heim who added a personal touch to a professional background and Barry Mitchell from Milwaukee County Emergency Management, all doing outstanding presentations. Barry also brought along a special guest Dave Wherry, Midwest Regional Manager of American Signal Corporation who demonstrated the power of the T-128 warning siren. The event was filled with friends and associates, some old and many new. This turned the atmosphere to more of a family gathering rather then a drab lecture series. Again as VP, Associate Director and Program Coordinator, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved.
