Just a small caution message to my fellow shortfilmmakers. Please - TopicsExpress

Just a small caution message to my fellow shortfilmmakers. Please be careful while spending too much of your cash reserves for whatever short film festival you find. Most of the festivals are primarily intended to make money earnings but not to appreciate and respect the talent. I am posting this status message after observing a really insulting event that happened very grandly in Hyderabad recently. It was intended for start-ups and they did a decent job on that, but they invited short film makers and the makers had to spend a lot of money to get their teammates present at the festival. The short film makers were still not aware that it was just a showcase and not a contest as it was originally publicized and all the three judges were IT employees not in anyway related to filmmaking. I was there and I was confused. But still, I thought the judges might be working in IT field but have good knowledge about filmmaking. After listening to their questions to me on the stage, I realized that I am answering to those who have no knowledge about filmmaking but asking/criticizing me about the technicalities involved in making I Can Fly. After the event is over, there has not been even a single post on their FB page on the short films that were screened. All the shortfilmmakers are being fooled big time. I hope they realize their mistake and wont conduct any short film showcase(or festival) on their next go. I am talking about TheAugustFest.
