Just a thought. How is different for musicians to get currently - TopicsExpress

Just a thought. How is different for musicians to get currently paid less for their streamed/digital/self published music than theyre expecting than for VCR (or computer for that matter) repair people to have less clients? Both are income sources invented within say, my grandmothers lifetime, both are impacted by changes in technology, but you dont hear repair techs talking about blu-ray and streaming media putting them out of work. Personally, Ive just about lost all of my small clients as a tech consultant due to a combination of the economy and the iPad/iPhone. I just saw it as changing times and retrained for a better market. I think musicians SHOULD get paid for their work. They should get paid very well at time of service and if their product (the released music) does exceptionally well, they should get bonuses. I think that art needs to be as valued as any other part of our culture. I dont think piracy has caused people to think music is worthless, I think people think that music is worthless because EVERYONE makes it and theres just a glut of product that really has no reason to exist and just drowns out the good stuff and so music really has become as worthless as any other commodity that has flooded the market. I guess my message is...Kill shitty musicians if you want to make money in the business?
