Just a thought, should we really be letting all of these investors, markets, traders bankers and other generally horrible human beings decide whether countries and peoples stand or fall? Should we really be letting people live on the streets and go without food for the sake of some imaginary numbers? do we need an open market and foreign investment? or is it time for a new system all together? A few years ago Iceland wrote off all of its citizens debt and started prosecuting the bankers and executives responsible for the collapse of its economy. It told the international community to stick its debt up its arse and put the needs of its people before all else. Instead of bailing the banks out Iceland let them go bust, and built a smaller amount of banks out of the remnants. In short, the people who caused the financial crisis paid the price for it. Its not very well publicised but Icelands economy recovered far faster than ours has been and despite some international scorn, the people of Iceland are doing rather well for themselves. I say we should have followed their example
