Just a whiff of this essay thick with needed theorization of subjectivity, systemic privilege, and how contemporary diversity work depletes those already bearing the weight of the system. Sara Ahmed is brilliant. If less effort is required to unlock the door for the key that fits the lock, so too less effort is required to pass through an institution for bodies that fit. I think of social privilege as an energy saving device: less effort is required to pass through. For other some bodies so much more effort is required to get through, to stand up; to stay standing.
